On 13 September 2026 the cloth was carried from the Roy Brown Statue into Riverside Park and shown at UA FEST; the Lanark County panel was stitched in open circles. Local press describes it as the first stop outside Europe.
What the sources say
Launched in October 2024 by Andrii Yatsenko in Tallinn, the project unites Ukrainian communities living abroad. The 160.5 m cloth consists of 103 individual panels from 89 organizations across Europe. The Book of World Records certified it as a European record in May 2026.
The rushnyk made its North American premiere in Carleton Place, Ontario, on September 13, 2026. A group of 125 people carried the cloth from the Roy Brown Statue into Riverside Park. The event was organized by the Ukrainian Community of Lanark County, led by Olga Ialovenko, as part of UA FEST.
Before the festival, local residents contributed to a dedicated Lanark County panel during open stitching circles held throughout the summer. This panel was added to the larger cloth at the event. Following its stop in Carleton Place, the rushnyk continued to Toronto for a parade on September 19, 2026.
