Ukrainians in 22 countries made rushnyky in the vybiika (block-print) technique; registration filled in eight days; final collection to be shown at the National Museum of Decorative Arts, with a tour planned.
What the sources say
Initiated by curator Karina Haieva in 2026, the "Signs of Identity" project united Ukrainians living across 22 countries. Participants decorated rushnyky using vybiika, a traditional technique of block-printing with stamps and paint. The project initially planned to include 20 rushnyky from 10 countries, but registration reached capacity and closed in just eight days.
The completed textile collection will tour internationally, visiting Ukrainian communities in Morocco, Portugal, France, and Austria to foster cross-cultural exchange. Afterward, the project will conclude with an exhibition in Kyiv at the National Museum of Decorative Arts of Ukraine, where the 21st-century collection will be donated to the museum's fund.
