What the sources say
The Museum of the National Liberation Struggle of Ternopil Region started the International Rushnyk of Unity «Tsvit Vyshyvanky» in May 2013. The traveling cloth will collect 24 patterns representing Ukrainian regions, Crimea, and Kyiv, along with 26 ornaments from countries with a Ukrainian diaspora. By 2022, the rushnyk included embroidery from five Ukrainian regions and eight diaspora communities.
Each participating country adds distinct symbols. Svitlana Lazoryk modeled the Austrian section on a shirt worn by Archduke Wilhelm Franz of Austria. In the Latvian pattern, Tetiana Lazda and Lesia Sapuzhak combined viburnum and oak leaves. Khrystyna Chuba and Liubov Kyryliuk added the Columns of Gediminas and a bird representing the Ukrainian language to the Lithuanian section.
In 2026, the rushnyk traveled from the United States to Argentina. Members of the Prosvita Women's Association, the Ukrainian Youth Association, and the Prosvita Cultural Association are adding the next ornament. Lida Markovych noted they will use a pattern created by Iryna Senyk. Following Argentina, the cloth will travel to Brazil.
