Victory Rushnyk — the Nation's Value Compass
3 Sep 2024: women stitched an yevshan flower at St George's Cathedral; the cloth was to travel to other cities and abroad. Near-identical name, separate project — the main naming collision.
This is a separate initiative with its own organizers. The travelling Rushnyk of Unity — Rushnyk of Victory, shown in Carleton Place in 2026, is another project.
What the sources say
The project began at St. George's Cathedral in Lviv, where more than twenty women from the city and region gathered to embroider. They stitched a yevshan flower, a fragrant steppe wormwood plant with red or purple blossoms symbolizing memory of the native land. Children also participated by adding individual cross-stitches to the fabric.
Public figure Ulyana Parpan stated the initiative involves the Ukrainian Women's Congress, the Club of Successful Women, and the International Institute of Inclusion. The organizers plan to send the cloth to other cities and abroad for internally displaced persons. The announced idea of these travels is to encourage people to return from abroad.
