What the sources say
Founded in 1936, the Ukrainian Museum of Canada is located in Saskatoon with branches in Toronto, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver. As the oldest and largest Ukrainian museum in North America, it connects people to the heritage, culture, and histories of Ukrainians in Canada, Ukraine, and the greater diaspora.
The museum holds one of North America's largest Ukrainian textile collections, including rushnyky, alongside artworks, artifacts, archives, and a library. It hosts contemporary exhibitions, online lectures, and hands-on workshops, featuring subjects such as Petrykivka painting and motanka doll making.
Celebrating ninety years, the institution recently joined the Global Coalition of Ukrainian Studies and received a nomination for the international ŽIVA Award. The museum relies on core funders, corporate support, and membership funds to keep its doors open for everyone to participate.
