The Ukrainian Museum in New York, founded in 1976, holds a significant collection of Ukrainian cultural heritage. Its folk art holdings encompass more than 8,000 objects, including rushnyky, kilims, and traditional costumes dating primarily from the 19th and 20th centuries. The overall museum collection encompasses more than 46,000 items.
The textile collection features items representing diverse regions, including an early 20th-century woven rushnyk from the Kyiv region. A small selection of the museum's holdings is available online. Researchers and curators can request appointments to view specific off-display artworks with two months' notice. The museum is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2026 and 2027.
