Rushnyk of Unity with 2,290 textile varenyky
National record set on 24 Aug 2026: an embroidered cloth carrying 2,290 handmade textile varenyky and Dnipro-region ornaments.
This is a separate initiative with its own organizers. The travelling Rushnyk of Unity — Rushnyk of Victory, shown in Carleton Place in 2026, is another project.
What the sources say
The "Rushnyk of Unity" is a national record-setting embroidered cloth created in Dnipro, Ukraine, registered on August 24, 2026. The project features 2,290 handmade textile varenyky arranged on a traditional cloth. Women of various ages worked on it over an extended period. Олена Булах served as the ideological inspirer and officially certified the record for the National Register of Records of Ukraine.
The rushnyk incorporates floral ornaments characteristic of the Dnipropetrovsk region, including sunflowers, poppies, viburnum, and Petrykivka painting motifs. It features 360 mallow flowers constructed from 1,800 heart-shaped petals. The women's community «Мальва», celebrating its tenth anniversary, created 400 of the textile varenyky for the cloth, 120 of which bear a mallow symbol.
