What the sources say
The Icon Museum and Study Center in Clinton, Massachusetts, hosted this exhibition from February 15 to June 3, 2018. Curated by Franklin Sciacca, an associate professor at Hamilton College, the display presented over 80 rushnyky, Ukrainian icons, and related artifacts from his personal collection.
The exhibition examined the ritual function of the rushnyk in Ukrainian folkways. These long, rectangular cloths were presented as a medium between the secular and the divine. Materials detailed their ceremonial use from birth to death, including receiving newborns, conducting wedding formalities, decorating homes, and lowering coffins.
