Inscribed: Petrykivka (2013), Cossack songs of Dnipropetrovsk (2016), Kosiv ceramics (2019), Ornek (2021), borscht (2022), pysanka and kobza/lyre (2024). No rushnyk or embroidery element is inscribed.
What the sources say
UNESCO maintains lists of Intangible Cultural Heritage, including elements in need of urgent safeguarding. Ukraine ratified the convention on May 27, 2008. The organization has inscribed seven Ukrainian cultural practices between 2013 and 2024. No rushnyk or embroidery element is inscribed on these lists.
The inscribed elements include Petrykivka decorative painting, Cossack’s songs of Dnipropetrovsk Region, Kosiv painted ceramics, the Crimean Tatar ornament Ornek, the culture of Ukrainian borscht cooking, the Pysanka tradition of decorating eggs, and the kobza and wheel lyre tradition. On July 5, 2024, UNESCO launched an educational resource kit for Ukraine.
