Giant Tiger is a Canadian discount retailer.

Its own newsroom describes the company as founded in 1961 in Ottawa's Byward Market — a proudly Canadian, privately held company with over 260 stores across Canada, providing jobs for approximately 10,000 people it calls Team Tiger. Its own 2021 giving release calls it an Ottawa-based national retailer. In French the chain trades as Tigre Géant.

Carleton Place has one Giant Tiger, and the chain numbers it store 00014: Carleton Place, Coleman, at 320 Coleman Street. Its own store page lists groceries and fresh meat alongside women's, kids' and plus-size clothing, scrubs, family sleepwear, bedding and bath, home décor and school supplies. The same page lists the services on offer at that address — in-store shopping, in-store pickup, lottery, stamps, third-party gift cards, and delivery through DoorDash and Uber Eats.

Local ownership is the company's own framing of itself. Giant Tiger has written in its media releases that all of its locations are "locally owned or operated by a team member who knows the community," and on its national Facebook page it introduced Marcia as the proud owner of the Carleton Place store. Its 65th-anniversary release in April 2026 quotes president and CEO Gino DiGioacchino on the values founder Gordon Reid set down: low prices, local ownership, and earning customer trust every day.

Giving is organised the same way. The Charitable Giving Fund supports organisations running programs that feed families, promote physical and mental health or empower youth, and the company says store owners and managers partner with local charities that directly benefit the community each store serves. For its 65th birthday Giant Tiger gave grants to local stores, each grant directed to a charity that store chose. In Carleton Place itself, Giant Tiger Stores Limited sponsored a Habitat for Humanity Greater Ottawa build day announced for 1 November 2016 at a house being built at 204 Crampton Drive, with a team from its Ottawa Home Office taking part.

Giant Tiger backed UA FEST in 2024. The festival returned to Riverside Park on Lake Ave W in Carleton Place on Sunday, 13 September 2026, from noon to 6 p.m., free to enter.
